Fees & pricing

Shorter plates cost more, because there are fewer of them. That is the entire pricing philosophy and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

Registration by length

All prices in USD, excluding local tax. Registration is a one-time fee; the annual renewal keeps the plate on the active register. The plates above are ordinary strings priced at the base rate — the finish shown is a free choice, not part of the tier. Premium strings cost a multiple of it.

Premium strings

Length sets the floor. A few hundred strings are worth more than their length suggests, because everybody wants the same word — those carry a multiplier on top of the base price and are marked wherever they appear.

Check a string

Reserved strings — registered trademarks, public names and strings the register holds itself — are not for sale at any price. The availability check tells you which is which before you pay.
